Sketchwork: Return of the hrrRwaaAa

I got a new sketchbook and it works very well with pens -- no bleeding through and stuff. Hopefully, it will be filled with lots of sketches.
Of course, I had to start off with a robot(monster).

The entire time I was wondering which character had trumpets for ears, like a puppet from a show when I was a kid.
I also like using music videos as reference when practicing movement and gestures.

Trying out different ways to draw textures for this next one.

I used to always include bat-like wings in my drawings before. I associated them with steampunk or those flying ships in Final Fantasy.
Another one referenced from a music / dance video. This zombie turned out a little too bloody compared to the original.

Next one is heavily inspired from an anime.

The tiny dust balls are based off the minions from Dennou coil. I'm rewatching the show and I'm reminded of why it is one of my favorite series. The world is very interesting and the story that happens within it is very engaging. I find the characters to be annoying at times though.
I guess I'm enjoying referencing dance videos. I just like how the movements are interesting and deliberate -- very fun to practice with for gestures.

Here's something referenced from "A League of Their Own".

I meant to use brown ink for this sketch, but I forgot and ended up using the M&G gel pen. I was thinking earlier this pen wasn't my favorite one but I realized it can produce a nice texture.
I think the Uni-ball Signo is my favorite. The black brown color looks really nice. It seems the ink takes a while to dry for the Signo compared to the others though. Might also be because of the type of paper? I don't think I've used this with watercolor paper and pencils before too. Will test this out one day.
