Practice: Perspective, to the atmosphere and beyond
This past week, I've been watching a bunch of videos on drawing and stuff. One of which, is atmospheric perspective -- I like that term, it sounds so "atmospherey".
Here is a tutorial by Scott Robertson on the subject of atmospheric perspective.
And here's my attempt at it:

I've added lights and shadows but I'll get to learning more of that soon.
I find practicing atmospheric perspective pretty fun to do. As for linear perspective, it's a huge challenge for me. Having grids and guides around the canvas makes it feel so restricting. I'm finding it hard to apply it in shapes other than boxes. This is something that I have to really work on.
I found some helpful tools for Photoshop when doing linear perspective drawing.
Here's great tool from drawinperspective.com to help setup the perspective lines. The grid lines come in layers so they are pretty easy to adjust. Another tool I found are these brushes by Paul Reinwand. Personally, I like to use Digi-Art Quicktool's Perspective Paths. I guess it just comes down to whether you prefer to use pre-made layers, stamp brushes or paths.
