Rise of the robots...or not

The beginning of a robot rebellion.

Or robot spasms.

Had a lot of fun in making this piece. I haven't drawn bots in a while too, so I guess it was extra fun.

I'm beginning to enjoy painting hard edges. It makes me think a lot more of the shading and highlights as I can't just fade them into oblivion -- like when I'm unsure and try to cheat my way out of it.

I did not plan on animating the robot but it looked like it would be fun to try it out.

Animating in Krita isn't available yet (its alpha version with the animation function doesn't work for me) so that I had to work on it manually. It got a bit confusing when the layers stacked up. Surprisingly though, onion skinning wasn't that hard (since I didn't have to deal with a ton of frames anyway). Exporting the frames one by one on the other hand, wasn't really fun. The frames had to be exported so that they can be compiled into an animated GIF in Gimp.

The process isn't exactly smooth as I had to redo it every single time I want to preview the animation but hey, it works! I'm even thinking of doing some more animated stuff soon.
